Audio Recording Equipment
Audio recording is a technical process which requires the expertise of recording experts who have sound knowledge in various audio recording techniques and skills. Audio recording is done by the use of various equipments that are required for making a recording possible on some recording medium like a tape, CD, hard disk etc. With a variety of audio recording equipments in the market, it can be a little daunting to choose the right one. The more advanced the equipment technology is, the more sophisticated the audio recording service would be. Thus, audio recording equipments would need to be chosen in such a way that they suit your requirements in an efficient way. Digital audio recorders, analog audio recorders, tape recorders, memory recorders, disc recorders are some of the equipments for audio recordings.
Lets understand how some of these audio recording equipments work:
* Cassette Audio recorders:
These recorders make analog recordings possible on CDs. The newer technology has poor ratio of signal to the noise but good frequency response. This means that cassette recorders have disturbed recording levels which creates a noise effects in the sound. Other problems with the cassette recorders are distortions, quality loss due to storage, any damages to the recording medium also affects a lot to the cassette recording. However, cassette audio recorders were a popular choice of the 90's, but they are now replaced by the min-disc technologies. * Mini-Disc Audio Recorders: Mini- disc recorders makes recordings based up on digital compression techniques. ATRAC compression system is used as a compression technique in these types of recorders. Mini-disc recorders as the name indicates are compact, small and light weight. Mini-disc recorders use a technology by which it is possible to safe guard copyright recordings and thus save them from illegal users who try to make copies of them digitally.
As the data produced by these mini-discs are in digital form, a mini-disc deck is required to transfer this data on to the computer and a computer with digital input of the audio. * Digital Audio Tape Recorders: Digital Audio Tape recorder makes recordings digitally on a tape of 6mm thickness. They use a video recording mechanism to serve the recording purpose. Such recorders are used in professional broadcasts as they excel in quality audio recordings. The cost of such professional recorders is expensive. Digital Audio Tape Recorders find complexity in their rotating head of the tape. These heads of the tape are extremely fragile so they are required to be handled with care. With such variety in audio recording equipments, different technologies for audio recording are emerging as avenues for good music recording.
